Become a C# Developer

C# is one of the most modern and sought-after programming languages today, and knowing it has wide application on the job market. This course guides you through the language from the very basics — you program simple games and applications and learn to write clean, maintainable code. Teaching is complemented by optional homework and mini-projects where you try everything in practice. After completing the course you can apply for a junior developer position; along the way we also go through the most common questions and tasks that await you at such an interview.

Prerequisites:

Basic experience with programming in any language — knowledge of conditions, loops and functions is expected. No previous experience with C# is needed.

Who is this course for?

The course is suitable for anyone interested in programming who wants to learn a language with wide application on the job market. Basic experience with programming in any language is enough.

Graduates of technical fields

Want to start in IT and are looking for a language with wide application and prospects.

Computer-science students

Are interested in a modern programming language and want to broaden their scope with C# and .NET.

Testers and support staff

Want to move on and start working as programmers in a junior position.

How does the teaching work?

The course is taught online with live lecturers, complemented by optional assignments and tests available in the e-learning platform and individual consultations with lecturers. You find all materials and lesson recordings in our e-learning platform.

Video recordings

Recordings of all lessons that you can return to at any time.

Practical exercises

You program from the first lesson — you write games and applications, not just theory.

Homework and projects

Optional assignments and mini-projects with an assigned supervisor to consult them with.

Group consultations

At least 4 consultations with a code review of your code and room for your questions.

Career preparation

Career counselling, a mock interview and a review of your CV and LinkedIn profile.

Certificate

After completing the course you receive a certificate of completion.

Course syllabus

In the first block you get to know the C# language and its development environment and master the pillar of modern programming — the object-oriented approach.

1. Basics

The development environment, syntax and structure of C# code, primitive data types, functions and their parameters, and working with the console. You write your first programs.

2. Object-oriented programming I

Reference and value types, classes and structs, inheritance, encapsulation and polymorphism, abstract classes and method overriding and overloading.

3. Object-oriented programming II

Interfaces and generic data types. You consolidate everything on practical examples.

The second block teaches you to work with data and algorithms and shows you the more advanced features of the language that will make you a confident programmer.

1. Arrays, collections and basic data structures

Arrays and multidimensional arrays, lists, dictionaries and sets, and interfaces for working with collections.

2. Algorithms, complexity and data structures

Algorithm complexity, basic algorithms, recursion (its advantages and disadvantages) and more advanced data structures.

3. Practice

A workshop in which you solve simple programming tasks and games in practice and consolidate what you have learned so far.

4. Functional programming and LINQ

Lambda expressions, extension methods, searching, filtering and projecting data with LINQ and the principle of lazy evaluation.

5. I/O operations and exception handling

Working with the file system, object serialisation, exception handling and best practices for working with them.

6. Events and delegates

Delegates, working with events and their practical use in building user interfaces.

The final block belongs to building real applications with a graphical interface, writing clean code and preparing to enter the profession.

1. Building GUI applications in WPF I

Introduction to building a graphical user interface with WPF technology, complemented by a practical part.

2. Building GUI applications in WPF II

Continuing GUI development in WPF — more advanced techniques and further practical work.

3. Clean code and revision

Best practices for writing code, symptoms of bad code, clean-code principles and a summary revision.

4. What’s new in C# and .NET

The most useful new features of modern C# and asynchronous processing (async-await).

5. Common interview questions

We focus on the most common interview questions about C# and .NET so you go in prepared and confident.

Graduate profile

Graduates master the basics of the C# programming language, are familiar with programming terminology, can solve simple algorithmic problems and independently create small-scale applications. If they complement the course with self-study and consultations, they are ready to apply for a junior developer position.

What comes after the course?

It doesn’t end with the course. Even after completing it, you keep plenty of benefits you can rely on:

Certificate of completion

An official Turing Institut certificate documenting your newly acquired skills.

Permanent access to materials

Recordings of all lessons and study materials remain yours forever – come back to them whenever you need.

Entry to the Turing community

A Discord full of people like you, a newsletter with IT news and exclusive members-only events.
